A Writing Challenge
Ten years. One letter. A hotel room, a set of handcuffs, and a storm of memories that refuses to stay buried.
I’m thrilled to announce that my mash-up story “The Night We Met” is now available at Literotica’s 2026 Music Challenge! This challenge is always one of my favourites — taking a song and letting it inspire something raw, emotional, and steamy. I chose Lord Huron’s “The Night We Met”, and the lyrics hit me like a freight train:
“I had all and then most of you Some and now none of you Take me back to the night we met…”
That sense of longing, regret, nostalgia, and the desperate wish to rewind time perfectly captured the heart of this story.
About the Story
Alison is a successful businesswoman and divorcee who has rebuilt her life after a painful separation. She’s strong, fit, independent — and haunted by the one that got away. When an unexpected handwritten letter arrives from Christian, her passionate ex from a decade earlier, it cracks open a door she thought was long sealed.
What follows is a charged reunion filled with tension, vulnerability, sweat-soaked passion, and the kind of intense, no-holds-barred reconnection that only happens when two people who once knew every inch of each other finally let the years melt away. From the slow burn of anticipation in a Sydney coffee shop to the raw, mirror-watching intensity in her hotel room, this story explores what it means to confront the past, seize a second chance, and surrender to desire without regrets.
It’s erotic, emotional, and deeply personal — a standalone tale that also ties into my larger Love of a Lifetime series (where Christian and Alison’s early days are explored in The Night We Met novel and Ghost of Timor).
Why Lord Huron’s Song?
The song’s melancholic beauty and themes of loss and memory mirror Alison’s internal struggle. She’s moved on… or has she? That Friday afternoon letter becomes the catalyst that pulls her back to the night they first met — and the nights that followed. The music’s atmospheric quality inspired the stormy, sensory-rich scenes and the reflective tone that runs through the piece.
